Overview

Nestled in the heart of Paris’s 8th arrondissement, Restaurant Shin Jung offers an authentic Korean dining experience that skillfully bridges tradition and contemporary taste. Located at 7 Rue Clapeyron, this cozy spot has quickly become a favored destination for both locals and visitors eager to explore Korean cuisine beyond the usual fare.

The restaurant’s menu is a thoughtful curation that highlights beloved Korean staples alongside innovative dishes. Signature plates such as the Tofu Dotsol Bibimbap and Bibimbap Boeuf deliver vibrant flavors packed with fresh vegetables, tender beef, and perfectly seasoned rice, achieving the delicate balance of warmth and texture that bibimbap is known for. The Raviolis Frits and Galette de Kimchi stand out as delightful starters, pairing crispy textures with the signature tang of fermented kimchi, while the seafood-infused Galette de Ciboulette aux Fruits de Mer offers a nuanced taste of the sea wrapped in traditional Korean pancake batter.

Soups such as the Kimchi Jigae and Ragoût de Tofu Fin offer rich, spicy broths that provide genuine comfort and depth, evoking the soul of Korean home cooking. These dishes are prepared with care, balancing boldness and subtlety, appealing to seasoned Korean food lovers and newcomers alike.

Adding a modern twist, their dessert menu features a standout Cheesecake Yuzu, praised by many for its bright citrus notes that cleanse the palate after a hearty meal. The beverage selection complements the food with traditional Korean teas, such as Thé Royal and Thé Au Yuju, perfect for enhancing the overall dining journey.

The atmosphere at Shin Jung reflects the warmth inherent in Korean hospitality. The intimate space is welcoming, making it suitable for diverse guests—from solo diners and couples to families and groups, including those with pets, as noted by satisfied patrons. Service is consistently highlighted for its friendliness and attentiveness, creating a relaxed environment without the need for reservations.

Though some guests find portions slightly modest, the exquisite quality and authenticity of the dishes justify the experience. The restaurant strikes a harmonious balance between genuine Korean flavors and Parisian dining expectations. Its emphasis on authentic taste, paired with a comfortable and inviting setting, makes it an ideal spot for Korean expatriates longing for the essence of home, curious food enthusiasts, and anyone seeking to explore deeper aspects of Korean culinary culture in Paris.

Very cozy and they were accommodating for our dog. The portion size left a little bit to be desired, but everything was very delicious, especially the dessert - try the yuzu cheesecake! The staff was also super nice and we had a great time, even without having a reservation.

We found this gem closed to our hotel. We were not disappointed, the customer service is so warm. As for their food, my daughter ended up ordering more of the Korean chicken. All of what we ordered was really good. I had the stone grilled bibimbap (beef) and the Korean seafood pancake and I highly recommend it. The price is very reasonable for the portion. we will definitely be back whenever we are in the area.

Had dinner here after a bit of shopping. They had vegan options and were kind enough to make some swaps. A little expensive for what you get but they make up for it in service and the ambiance of the place. At this restaurant I visited a few days ago, I met the best kimchi stew of my life! It is not a Korean food with a strange taste modified to suit the local area, but a real depth and taste of the original Korean food! The small-sized seafood green onion pancake I ate as an appetizer was also excellent. I understood why many certification stickers on the restaurant show window were attached. It will be a very valuable experience not only for Korean travelers who miss Korean food but also for French people who are curious about Korean food culture! I highly recommend it!

Authentic Korean food in Paris. Only one waiter to take orders, deliver food and check out. Even so, the waiter always wears a smile. So you might have to wait one hour to have your food on the table. Totally worth it. If you are from Asia and miss Asian food during long trip in Europe, shin Jung is definitely somewhere you should visit.
